About Us

Welcome to Crowder Farm! Allow us to introduce ourselves.

We’re John and Jen Crowder. John is a manager at a food processing plant, and I teach part time and stay home with our three children.

We are the third generation of Crowders who have lived on our 5.5-acre farm.

This little piece of peaceful country living was purchased by John’s grandparents in the 1950s, and they poured their heart and soul into developing a sustainable little farm where they raised their children and grew much of the food on their table.

Their hard work really shaped this little place into what it was today.

Grandpa renovated the house, adding updates such as indoor plumbing, brick, and a living room. He added a garage, chicken coop, and upgrades to the barn. He dug the foundation and well by hand.

Grandma baked, canned, and preserved much of the food from the extensive gardens.

When John’s dad took over the farm from them, he gutted and redid the entire inside of the house. He raised floors and moved stairs. He built the kitchen and bathroom cabinets and countertops by hand. He converted a field into a pond and greenspace for humans and animals to enjoy.

Two years ago, we purchased this property from John’s dad.

In the past two years, we have once again brought livestock to the property. We started with around 20 hens, but have worked our way up to nearly 70 hens. We also raise meat birds.

We have added many additional plants to the landscape, mostly natural species.

It’s been quite a journey for our little family, these past two years. We’ve learned and grown so much here already. We’ve made many, many mistakes on that journey.

Please join us as we share a glimpse into our little life here.
