Our "one and done" hen hatched out one chick from

Our "one and done" hen hatched out one chick from a whole clutch of eggs. We were hoping for one or two colourful eggs to hatch (mama is an azure blue), but it looks like we have a barred rock rooster.
Hopefully one of the other two broody hens hatches out some pullets to add to our laying flock.

It has sat trimmed exactly like this for decades. We've had a soggy spring and the trunk finally gave out.
John tested it and it seemed solid earlier this week.

Dew-covered rose, elderflowers, and thousands of tiny pawpaws. I counted over 50 pawpaws on one branch the other day. A lot of these pawpaws will fall off over the coming weeks, but I haven't seen this many over the six years we've lived here.

It's been a bit since our barnyard mix Olive egger

It's been a bit since our barnyard mix Olive egger has laid, which has us very excited again - but we're extremely excited to finally have blue eggs in the coop, courtesy of some recently acquired Azure Blue hens. It's really difficult to capture the true colours of both the blue and olive egg in a single photo, so you get two. I included a white egg from our solo Leghorn to provide a contrast to the pretty pale blue.
